Deadbolts vs deadlatches, what's the difference?
A deadlatch is a lock that operates by pulling the door shut. The lock can then be opened by a key externally, typically featuring a knob or thumbturn on the inside
A deadbolt has a bolt that is thrown by a key externally, and a key/thumbturn internally.
They are both classed as deadlocks as they are lockable from both sides of the door and require a key to open the door , single cylinder deadbolts being the exception as a thumbturn will manually throw the bolt from the inside.
This functionality is the opposite of a vestibule lock, where seeking egress (exiting) is availablle at all times.
Choosing between a deadlatch or a deabolt depends on a matter of convenience versus security. With a deadbolt you must have your keys with you to lock the door, whilst a deadlatch involves pulling the door shut. However, it is impossible to lock yourself out of your house with a deadbolt where as pulling a door shut without consdering your keys is the number one cause of lockouts

Door closers. Latching speed vs sweep speed?
What is back-check?
Backcheck slows the door in the opening swing to help keep it from hitting an adjacent wall or having wind throw it out of your control. Backcheck resistance should only be felt near the fully open position.Notes: Backcheck is not a door stop. Most of our Grade 1 door closers offer fully adjustable Backcheck.
What is sweep control?
Sweep speed (door closing speed) is the time frame form the start of the door closing to a couple inches before the door hits it latch point. The last few inches of closing are controlled via the latch speed valve if one is included.
What is latch speed?
The Latch Zone is the last few inches before the door hits it latch point. This closing zone is controlled via the latch speed valve.Note: A properly adjusted door closer latch speed should never slam the door closed causing stress on the door and frame.
WE ARE CURRENTLY BEING IMPERSONATED BY SCAM ARTISTS
24-7 Lockouts is currently being impersonated by scam artists such as '24-7 Locksmiths'. The company will use an unmarked vehicle, no uniform, and handful of tools, and cause more damage than assistance.
Not in this case however. Someone has made thier own invoice and used 24-7 Lockouts logo, ABN, business address and phone numbers.
Upon investigating, it is obvious that whoever did this has copied an invoice template readily available on Google Images. Compare the left and right images.
24-7 Lockouts would have charged $99 for this job, not $325.
We are currently undertaking legal action
Beware of scam artists
